About the Band
The C. A. Jacobs Band has received "Superior" ratings at CMEA music festivals since 1991 and has earned 17 "Unanimous Superiors". This award winning 7th & 8th grade band has 131 dedicated and respected members in it this year. We invite you to come listen to one of our outstanding concerts. Parents, you are always welcome in the Band Room. You're also welcome to come in and listen to a rehearsal. If you have any questions about the band, just call or email Mr. Russo.
About the Director
Mr. Russo holds a Bachelor in Music Education at Shenandoah Conservatory of Music in Winchester, VA, and a Master of Arts in Music from California State University, Sacramento.

Mr. Russo has taught music in public schools, and at the college level, for the past 22 years. As music director at C. A. Jacobs Intermediate School, Steve's bands have scored "Unanimous Superior" ratings (including sight-reading) at CMEA & NCBA Music Festivals since 1991. Mr. Russo also directed the American River College "Evening Jazz Ensemble." This band placed second in its division at the Reno International Jazz Festival. Special guest artists/clinicians that have performed with the band include Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, and John Fedchock.

Mr. Russo is in demand as a trumpet player and adjudicator / clinician throughout northern California and for the California Music Educators Association.

Mr. Russo has played lead trumpet for the United States Air Force Band (Travis AFB), Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus (10 years in Sacramento), Gregg Allman, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Drifters, The Shirelles, The Glen Miller Orchestra, Nelson Riddle Orchestra, Julius La Rosa, Jo Ann Castle, Lin Biviano, Stan Mark, Artey Shaw, and Diane Schuur.

Steve currently is a freelance trumpet player in the greater Sacramento area. Steve also regularly plays with The Mike Torres Band (a Latino show band specializing in Cumbias, Rancheras, Boleros, Tejano (Tex-Mex), Norteno, Salsa, and Merengue).Visit Steve at NorCal Wedding Music

Steve Russo is a native of Long Island, New York and currently resides in Fairfield, California.
